Breakfast Veggie Hash

Good morning, and happy Friday Eve! Is it just me, or has this week been dragging on? The weekend cannot come soon enough. It has had me dreaming of the perfect Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast, am I the only who thinks of the amazing food they get to consume over the weekend? Calories don’t count on the weekends. I did this accidental thing the other weekend. It was a beautiful accident. I made Chase and I a lovely Sunday morning breakfast that turned out amazingly delicious AND was healthy. It was magical like Christmas morning. It even photographed well. […]

How to Eat and Drink Your Way Through Austin

My sister and brother-in-law live in Austin, Texas. Just about every time I talk to her (which is basically everyday) I tell her to move home already. I mean, I get it, Austin is a cool town and all but this long distance relationship just isn’t my style. So Chase and I constantly tell her and Cody (brother-in-law) to move home. They probably talk about how annoying we are, but whatever works, right? Last weekend we took a trip to Austin for my sister’s graduation. She’s a badass and graduated nursing school last Saturday. We have been to Austin once […]

Living Room Progress

I’ve said this a couple times, but the biggest reason Chase and I took the leap on our house was for the neighborhood. We loved the area and wanted so badly to live in it, but we couldn’t afford a ready to move in house. Renovation never scared us, in fact it was one of the things on our list. Ya know, that list that every potential homebuyer has. Some people have a pool or lots of closet space on theirs, we knew we wanted something that we could make our own. So when we saw our house on Realtor.com […]

We Got A Dog

So we did this thing. This crazy thing (it felt crazy to us…in a good way). We got a dog. We’ve been wanting another furry family member for about the last year and a half, but the timing hasn’t been right. First, we were living in Chico in a 975 square foot condo that had no yard and barely a deck. Then, we moved home because we were buying a house, but that house fell through. I don’t think I’ve told you guys that story yet. THEN, we bought our house, the dream house. However, it was not livable. Even […]

Office/Craft Room Tour (And Office Pets)

When Chase and I were house hunting we knew we wanted at least 3 bedrooms. We really wanted a guest room, and needed an office. We already tried the office and guest room combo in our 2 bedroom condo and it never worked out. Our guests were either sleeping under a pile of papers or we moved all our junk into the master bedroom to hide it, which meant that later we were the ones sleeping under piles of things. Thank goodness for our 3 bedrooms with ample closet space, because you best believe that just about every inch of every […]

Chicken Tortilla Soup

Am I the only one who feels like tortilla soup is a summer soup? I know soup is a fall/winter kind of thing but when the weather gets warm, I want tortilla soup! This week we had some shredded salsa chicken leftover so I decided it was time for some tortilla soup. (How many times can I say tortilla soup in the first paragraph?)  I have made this soup a million times, it’s so easy to throw everything in the crockpot and be done in 8 hours! Or 6, or 4, or whatever tickles  your fancy really.  This batch though, […]

FINALLY Home Sweet Home

This weekend we had our first sort of get together in the new house. It was the kind that started as just having another couple come over to BBQ and enjoy the nice weather and then it turned into having a small group over, such is a Saturday night in a small town. Chase and I are entertainers. We love people and we love to have our family and friends over whenever possible. I am one of those people who enjoys when family and friends just drop in to say hi or for an unexpected dinner party. It’s one of […]

A Day at Shiplap Disneyland

This post is SO over due…..it’s been weeks since we got back from Texas. I have a good excuse, I promise. As most of you already know because you follow me on social media, we finally moved into our house!!! Now I am sure you are saying,  “What?! Then where are the pictures? We want proof!” We still have a few things to get done. While it is finally far enough along to live in we are still missing a couple things like drawer pulls, vanity lights, an island countertop….the list goes on. However it is a great feeling to […]

Antiquing Our Way Through Texas

Chase and I just returned from our amazing trip to Texas with his parents. There is an antique fair that goes on twice a year, in the spring and fall, and they always attend. They fly out, rent a U-Haul, fill it up, and drive it back to California. Their home and ranch is filled with the most beautiful antique pieces. Chase and I are also antique lovers and have frequented the many shops in our area. Well let me tell you, we are now ruined. This year John and Trish (my in-laws) invited us to come along with them, […]

The Final Days & A Trip to Texas

Rumor has it that we will be able to move into our house next week. Now that we are actually this close it doesn’t feel real. There are still some things that need to be finished but we are now at the point where if we move in it won’t slow anything down. Our cabinets went in this week and all that is left are a couple doors and drawers that the cabinet guy is finishing up. Our countertops also went in this week and they look SO GOOD. We went with a white quartz that looks like marble. We learned […]
